President's Message
International Women’s DayGreetings.
I hope that you all had an opportunity to celebrate and reflect upon International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2022. International Institute of Business Analysis held a webinar where the panelists shared their experiences, challenges and advice for breaking gender bias in the workplace. Despite the numerous opportunities the business analysis field creates for women, there is still a gender bias in our industry, as there is in all industries. So, I want to share with you my thoughts regarding breaking down bias toward women in the business analysis profession. I truly believe that all of the female business analysts I have had the pleasure and the opportunity to work with were fantastic and every part my equal. As president of the IIBA® Calgary Chapter, I am truly blessed to be surrounded with many strong, capable volunteer leaders. I appreciate and value each volunteer’s contribution but I am so thankful to have a majority of women on the volunteer team. I would like to share with you my hopes for the future of womanhood with regards to equality. I have a wonderful wife, three daughters and three granddaughters. I look forward to a time where none of these women and girls are discriminated against or discounted from pursuing opportunities and interests. I hope and pray for the day when their voices are heard equally, the opportunity for advancement in their chosen field is unthwarted, and prejudice, as well as violence against women, cease. We must take it upon ourselves to work towards this and be a part of turning this vision into a reality by learning to recognize all bias, championing this cause. In closing, I want to personally invite you to our March event held virtually on March 24th at 5:00-6:00 pm MT titled Dynamic Documentation Skill Stack for Superior Business Analysts as Adrienne Bellehumeur shares her secrets for building your own and your team’s documentation skill stack. Please follow this link for more information and registration. Thank you, Reg Cracknell, |
