Mentorship Program

IIBA® Calgary Chapter Mentorship Program

As a Business Analyst we encounter a myriad of scenarios, which require us to pull from our breadth of experience and knowledge to resolve the issue. Given this requirement, it is noted that varying skills and strengths are leveraged during these circumstances. By providing mentorship to those who are new to or struggling with certain principles of Business Analysis, you are positively impacting their ability to perform their duties all the while, increasing their confidence.

The mentorship program is a valuable offering for both the protégé and mentor in the following ways:

  • Build / increase knowledge pool
  • Networking and greater exposure to BA community
  • Allows mentor to sharpen their mentoring skills
  • Earn CDUs towards recertification (Category 6: Professional Experience Maximum 25 CDUs per 3 yr)
  • Earn Work Experience hours towards certification for all work completed

There are 2 levels of mentoring being offered, depending on your reason for mentorship and time availability.

Committed Mentoring

The committed mentoring is for those who can commit to a 3 - 6 month duration and who are looking for a more formal mentoring relationship. This allows the parties to address several items over the course of the commitment. This does require an application form to be completed and submitted to the Chapter so that we can assess your needs and match you with someone who can best mentor you and your circumstance .

Speed Mentoring

Speed mentoring will be conducted once a month as a special event for those individuals who have a simple question or concern which can be addressed by the group. An RSVP will be required and questions be emailed to the facilitator prior to the event to avoid duplicate inquiries and to support prioritization efforts.

For participants in the committed mentoring group, introductions will be made via email and the first meeting date will be determined by the protégé and mentor.

Application Process

Depending on whether you are the protégé or mentor, there is an application specific to you. Click the applicable form below and send the completed form to mentor@calgary.iiba.org
