President's Message - Continued Learning

I want to challenge you to become more involved in the learning opportunities provided by the IIBA® Calgary Chapter.

Last month, we had an event that was not only educational but also very relevant to our changing times in the profession of business analysis. We had an excellent presentation from Pamela Paterson regarding creating, gathering, and communicating requirements in the new and challenging remote work world that resulted from the pandemic. The learnings were exceptional and provided communication tricks and tips for daily use.

I want to personally invite you to the upcoming event, November 24th, with Dr. Gary Edwards. The title of the event is Building Resilience on the Journey to Insights. Gary will be sharing from his wealth of experience on how business analysts can enhance their insights through storytelling using data visualization and insights. I have had the opportunity of attending a live webinar where Gary presented and came away with many valuable insights to using data to communicate to the businesses, that which we as business analyst do on a daily basis.

The chapter also holds study groups covering the BABOK in preparation for the ECBA™, CCBA®, and CBAP® designations granted by the IIBA®. We also provide training in regards specialty designations like AAC, CBDA, CCA and CPOA. Please see the certification on the IIBA® website. Please watch for information about the upcoming study groups provided by the chapter.

I want you to know that there is a team of volunteers working diligently for you to provide continuing education opportunities during events and study groups. I invite you to take advantage of these opportunities.

Thank you,

Reg Cracknell,
President
