I live in an older community in Calgary. My house was built in 1931. Many of the neighboring trees are the same age. They are grand and beautiful. The mature urban forest is one of the things I love about my neighborhood.
But it's slowly changing. Bigger houses need more space. Land use morphs. The city evolves.
As much as I don't like to see it, we're told change is inevitable. Before Plato or Socrates, Heraclitus said, "The only thing that is constant is change.", "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man." If we embrace change, what does that mean? It doesn't mean we promote change for change sake. But we can help guide it. We can ensure there are realized benefits.
As BA's, we are change agents. We help inititate it, we help define the solution, and we implement. Throughout each phase, we help our stakeholders through facilitated visioning, expectation management, process redesign and more.
Heraclitus also said, "It is in changing that we find purpose." Indeed, change is all around us Let's do our part to guide it, to ensure we see improvement that's lasting. Make everystep a positive step forward.
Please join us on October 19th at our Professional Development Day 2020 'Technology in the World of Business Analyis'.
Technology has proven to be a critical part of our toolkit and our journey as we live, grow, change and deliver value. I hope to see you there.
