A New Year, New Volunteers, New Initiatives
As we step into a new year, I am excited to share the momentum building within the IIBA® Calgary Chapter—momentum driven by new volunteers, renewed leadership energy, and bold new initiatives focused squarely on delivering greater value to our members and our community.
We are delighted to welcome several new leaders into key volunteer roles. Please join me in congratulating Chrysanctus Ben Akpan, our new Vice President; Jide Obadofin, Director of Events; Kate Egbabor, Director of Membership; Levan Lekveishvili, Events Coordinator; Hanifa Seenandan, Events Marketing; and Dolapo Familusi, Volunteer Coordinator. Each of them steps into their role standing on the strong foundation built by the faithful and diligent volunteers who came before them. That continuity of service and commitment is what keeps our chapter strong.
Speaking of faithful volunteers, few embody that spirit more than Adeyemi Tanimomo. Fearless, ferocious, and unwavering in his dedication, Adeyemi has worked tirelessly as Sponsorship Coordinator. In the spirit of new initiatives and strategic growth, Adeyemi is now stepping into a new role as Partnership Coordinator and Business Development Lead. This shift reflects an intentional change in direction: moving from transactional sponsorships toward meaningful, long-term partnerships rooted in shared purpose and impact.
One major focus area for these partnerships will be not-for-profit organizations, including Immigrant Services Calgary, Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, and Data for Good. Data for Good is a collective of volunteer do-gooders who use their powers for good—helping nonprofit and social organizations harness the power of data through analytics and visualization to amplify their impact in our communities. This is a natural alignment with who we are as business analysts.
Our second partnership focus will be with local IT and high-tech recruiters. In the coming months, we will invite members to opt in to share their contact details and résumés with trusted recruiting partners. This will allow recruiters to proactively match IIBA® Calgary members with current and future opportunities, creating tangible career value through our local network.
Please know this: you are at the heart of everything we do. Every decision, every initiative, and every partnership is guided by our commitment to better serve you and strengthen the business analysis profession in Calgary. Together, as a leadership team and as a community, we are exploring new ways to engage, connect, and deliver meaningful local value.
Here’s to a new year of collaboration, growth, and impact.
