President's Message

Year-End Newsletter | Reflecting on 2025, Looking Ahead to 2026

As we come to the close of another remarkable year, I would like to take a moment to reflect, express gratitude, and look ahead with optimism on behalf of the IIBA® Calgary Chapter.

Reflecting on 2025
Throughout 2025, our Chapter has continued to thrive because of you—our engaged, committed, and passionate members. Over the past year, we have shared a wide range of newsletter stories highlighting professional development events, certification study groups, mentoring activities, community partnerships, networking opportunities, and volunteer-led initiatives. Each piece told a story of growth, collaboration, and commitment to advancing the business analysis profession in Calgary and beyond.

We were proud to host and support multiple events throughout the year, including professional development sessions, certification preparation offerings, networking events, mentorship activities, and collaborative partnerships with fellow professional organizations. These events not only strengthened our professional capabilities but also reinforced the sense of community that makes our Chapter exceptional.

Thank You to Our Members
Thank you to each and every member for your continued support, engagement, and participation this past year. Your attendance at events, willingness to volunteer, and commitment to professional growth are the foundation of everything we accomplish as a Chapter. Without your involvement, our successes simply would not be possible.

Appreciation for Our Board and Volunteers
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Board of Directors. Their leadership, dedication, and countless volunteer hours were instrumental in the IIBA® Calgary Chapter being named a finalist in two prestigious categories:
  • Chapter of the Year
  • Partnership Award
These recognitions are a direct reflection of the Board’s strategic vision, collaborative spirit, and unwavering commitment to serving our members.
In addition, I want to personally thank all members for their participation and support, as it was truly a collective effort. Without you, I would not have been honoured as a finalist for the Volunteer of the Year Award. This recognition belongs to our entire community.

Holiday Wishes
As we enter the holiday season, I wish each of you a warm, happy, healthy, and safe holiday season. May this time be filled with meaningful family moments, rest, and renewal—no matter your traditions or beliefs. Thank you for being part of our inclusive and supportive professional community.

Looking Ahead to 2026
We are excited to begin 2026 by celebrating achievement, service, and commitment. To recognize the hard work and dedication demonstrated throughout 2025, we will be hosting a Networking & Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on: January 13, 2026.

This special evening will honour:
  • Members who earned new certifications through hard work and perseverance
  • Our volunteers, whose time and energy power everything we do
Event details and registration information are available on our Events webpage:  https://web.membernova.com/400546/Events/save-the-date-2026-networking-volunteer-appreciation-event .

                                            ✨
Amid the holiday rush, stress can overshadow joy. Even Santa’s holiday scrambles could get real with duplicate gifts, blown budgets, not enough sleigh capacity and elves arguing over toy priorities.

Business analysts  can  make magic happen with dashboards brighter than Christmas lights,  cookie consumption forecasts, optimized sleigh routes, and even introduce a “No Scope Creep” policy for wish lists. Result? A perfectly planned holiday with zero reindeer overtime.

Ensure to enjoy this season as you transform any holiday chaos into clarity by streamlining  event planning, optimizing gift lists and ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.

You get to focus on what matters most: a season of connection and joy. Because behind every happy holiday is thoughtful planning.

Here’s to insights, teamwork, and a season where every trend sparkles bright.                                               ✨
