Year-End Reflections: Don’t Forget Your Own Energy Bank Deposits
As the year-end fast approaches, many of us feel the rumble of project deadlines barreling toward us like a high-speed train. Reports need wrapping, budgets need closing, and final deliverables need polishing. On top of that, holiday plans, family gatherings, and personal commitments are pressing in, each demanding a share of our time and energy.
In the middle of all that noise, I want to gently remind you to carve out a little time just for you. Your energy bank needs deposits just as much as your projects need deliverables. Whether it’s taking a walk in the crisp winter air, hitting the gym, reading a great book, journaling, or simply spending time with someone special—do whatever it takes to refuel your inner reserves.
And if volunteering brings you joy, consider investing a bit of that energy into the IIBA® Calgary Chapter. We have several open positions waiting for passionate members who want to give back and grow—but we also know that volunteering isn’t everyone’s way of recharging. That’s perfectly okay. The goal is to restore yourself in whatever way works best for you.
As we all navigate the close of another busy year, please take care of your well-being and give yourself the same grace you extend to your teams, clients, and families.
If you ever want to talk, share an idea, or explore how you can get more involved with the Chapter, I’m always happy to connect—feel free to reach out to me at president@calgary.iiba.org or 403-818-9670.
